30 Before 30: Watching Peacemaker

AND I’M BACK on my 30 Before 30 Adventure! This past weekend we continued watching George Clooney movies with Peacemaker, a movie neither of us had seen before. I wasn’t expecting this to be one of the good ones, but it was actually a pretty good movie.

From IMDB: “A US Army colonel and a civilian woman supervising him must track down stolen Russian nuclear weapons before they’re used by terrorists. “

That’s a pretty simplified explanation, but in a nutshell – yes. George Clooney takes risks that Nicole Kidman doesn’t want him to, and tension ensues – but what’s great about this movie is that the tension is not necessarily romantic.

Things I liked about this movie: the acting, the dialogue, the fact that they stayed away from the “romantic entanglements” that we both expected to be front and center, and there were some pretty good action sequences.

Things I didn’t like: The plot was bit confusing. I also believe that the movie makers assumed knowledge of the war in Bosnia that  I was a bit to young at the time to really retain. Watching this movie years later, I wish they had taken a moment or a line or two to put in some context for the “villain” past a small flashback.

Ultimately, though, a fun action movie with twists and turns and snappy dialogue.

Have you seen it? What George Clooney movie should we watch next?
