Halloween is my favorite holiday and I am lucky enough to have a husband who loves it even more than I do. I love almost everything about Autumn from the beautiful foliage to the crisp sweater weather and jacket days. Halloween for me means planning the perfect costume, watching a handful of our favorite spooky but not scary Halloween type movies and helping Matt decide what he’ll carve into a slew of pumpkins this year. Oh, and reading some appropriate books of course! Stay tuned for my October Reads post next week for more on that!
But the costumes, oh the costumes. That is my favorite part. Matt and I have been planning and creating paired costumes since we met and we even have a list of “dream” costumes for when we have the money and or the time to make them. Since our second Halloween together we have gone somewhere theme appropriate and photographed ourselves in our costumes. When we were Red Riding Hood and the Huntsman (post killing the wolf) we went out into the woods. As Rizzo and Kenickie we went to a local high school and used the bleachers and an outdoor brick wall. The only two that we haven’t photographed properly are the first year and last year, interestingly.
Our first Halloween together we were Morticia and Gomez Addams and I think someday we will recreate the costumes again and photograph ourselves properly. I still have the dress, although now I’d have to buy a wig since I cut my hair.
Last year we didn’t have the time, really, or couldn’t think of a good location to go. But! This year we’ve decided to do last years costumes again so that we can show them off properly. So now we just have to think of a place to photograph ourselves as Wreck it Ralph and Vanellope! If you have any ideas, let us know. I’m thinking of maybe going to an arcade or race track but I don’t know if they would allow us to take photos. We may have to find a generic place and then do a little photoshopping, we shall see.
We worked really hard on these costumes last year and I’m really excited to show them off. When I have a proper photo to post I will do so on the blog! 🙂
What are you going to dress as for Halloween this year?
ps. Strigoi, the vampire bat found in the header this week can be found in our Etsy Shop!
