Nowhere Nerds: On a Hike

Matt and I both had Monday off and we celebrated with a series of long walks outdoors. The weather was a bit gloomy, but perfect for being out and about. Not too hot, not too cold. My calves hurt today, which is a good sign. I can’t wait to get out more and get back into shape.

Along our hike we saw some cool things and I was snapping photos left and right. We also saw some cute dogs out for walks with their owners and were on the lookout for buds and leaves.

This bridge went over the highway. We walked across it, but then decided to go back the other way. Next time we’ll go farther, but for our first day back out I didn’t want to overtire myself, and the path looked steep. Yes, I was being a bit of a wimp. But I’m okay with that, soon I’ll be going up those steeper paths with much less complaining.

Taking walks in the woods is something we love to do. Something that we didn’t get to do as much as we wanted to last year. This year we are making a bigger effort. I love the peacefulness of being outside in the woods, the quiet when you finally get away from the highway and the roads. It always prompts interesting conversations and talks of daydreams and what ifs. Sometimes, those conversations even inspire us to have adventures or accomplish things when we get back home. Walks encourage us to be creative and think big.

Do you go on hikes? What do you love about them?
